FRANKTOWN FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Franktown Fire Protection District is continually looking for people who are interested in becoming volunteer members. For a member's time and commitment we provide equipment and training in a motivating real world environment in order for you to gain an understanding, competence and receive certifications in firefighting and emergency medical services. We accept applications throughout the year and bring new members in the District at various times.
Membership Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Have a current driver's license
- Show proof that you have started, are in the process or have completed the Hepatitis B vaccination series
Member Process
- Complete an application.
- Enclose all required documentation (applications without all documentation are not reviewed until we receive all documents).
- Drop off your application (at station 181) or mail you application to us.
- Application review.
- Ride-alongs with our on duty crew.
- Interview.
Successful candidates will move onto an orientation session, and basic firefighting and EMS training and probationary firefighter period.
Members have to opportunity to train and certify in:
- Colorado State Firefighter I and II
- Colorado Sate Hazardous Materials at the Operations Level
- S130 and S190 Federal Wildland firefighting
- Driver Operator for Utility Vehicles
- Driver Operator Pumper
- Emergency Medical Technician continuing education
We also provide partial or full tuition reimbursement for courses that our members take that are not held in our district such as:
- Emergency Medical Technician Basic
- Intravenous Fluids Therapy
- Basic EKG interpretation
- Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic
We have both an in District program and an out of District Program.
The requirements for our in District Members are:
- Respond to 20% of calls in their assigned Station area.
- Respond to 25% of all major incidents in the FFPD area.
- Attend one Company Training per month.
- Attend on EMS continuing education training per month.
The requirements for our out of District Members are:
- Work shifts at our staffed stations 36 hours per month on a scheduled basis.
- Attend one Company Training per month.
- Attend one EMS continuing education training per month.
